What is Urusei Yatsura 2022 About?
Urusei Yatsura follows the unluckiest man on Earth, Ataru Moroboshi, and when the aliens arrived for an invasion, he was randomly selected to be a part of the defenders by playing the national game of the aliens which is tag. If they win, it only means that the world is saved.
Urusei Yatsura was published in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1978 to 1987 where it had 374 chapters compiled into 34 tankōbon volumes. The title got an anime adaptation produced by Kitty Films from 1981 to 1986 having 195 all in all. It also had 12 OVAs and six films. It was so big that it has been a classic title over the years.
The classic series Urusei Yatsura will be back on a brand-new project as part of the commemoration of Shogakukan’s milestone of their 100th anniversary. It is written by Rumiko Takahashi who has been one of the most notable in the field of manga having one of the longest runs in his career and producing famous titles such as RIN-NE, Inuyasha, Ranma ½, and Maison Ikkoku.

Urusei Yatsura reboot is scheduled to premiere in October 2022, forming part of the Fall Anime Season. (This portion will be updated once there is a definitive release date set for the anime series.)
