The historical K-drama has come to an end leaving viewers with a surprising twist for the drama’s finale.
The episode starts with the counsel asking the King to execute Prince Uiseong and his family for being part of the treason.
Being his father, the King forbid the idea but was moved by the counsels’ opinion.
On the other hand, Queen Im Hwa Ryung meets the deposed Queen Yoon to deliver the sad news about his remaining son, who was killed by Prince Uiseong his son.
With this, Queen Im Hwa Ryung feels like she failed to keep her promise to protect the former grand prince who disguises as Royal Physician Kwon.
One of the highlights of Under the Queen's Umbrella episode 16 is Queen Im Hwa Ryung’s counterattack against Quen Dowager Cho.
After exposing the secret of her son, Grand Prince Muan, and downplaying the pregnancy of Grand Princess, the King’s wife gets back at her mother-in-law by revealing her dark secret.
However, before her massive expose, Queen Im Hwa Ryung sought the King’s opinion and mentioned that she is set to reveal the truth about Queen Dowager’s wrongdoings.
Queen Im Hwa Ryung enlightened the King that this is his opportunity to correct the past.
In the end, Queen Dowager Cho is sentenced with punishment by her own son, the King.
However, the whole palace was stunned after Queen Dowager Cho insisted that she is innocent prompting to end her own life.
Due to this, the palace was able to return to its own state. The late Crown Prince’s family return to the Kingdom together with Im Hwa Ryung.
