Undead Girl Murder Farce is a mystery anime following Tsugaru Shinuchi in the turn of an alternative 19th century, a time when yokai are slain due to Japan's westernization efforts.

His hopeless life changes when he meets a mysterious maid who carries her immortal lady's severed head in a cage.

Aya Rindo, an undead (and decapitated) detective joins forces with Tsugaru as they both travel to Europe to find the person who stole her body.

So begins Tsugaru's life as the "cage user", an assistant who helps Aya solve supernatural crimes until they can finally locate her own would-be murderer.

Generally, the Undead Girl Murder Farce anime which you can watch on Crunchyroll is a faithful adaptation.

We do prefer the anime's sharper and more gothic look of Aya Rindo compared to her sweeter and slightly more generic manga counterpart, but the manga is otherwise similarly fun and mysterious.
