Uncharted and Dead Space Alumni Join Square Enix's Avengers Project

When Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics first announced The Avengers Project, gamers were pumped up. There hasn't been a high-profile Marvel console game in some time, so seeing two big-time developers on an Avengers game sounded promising. While there has been minimal news on the title since the announcement, a number of talented game developers from other companies have now joined the title.

These developers come from Visceral Games, EA, and Naughty Dog. In fact, one of the more notable talents working on the Marvel game is Shaun Escayg, the creative director of last year's Uncharted: Lost Legacy. Escayg will now have that same role for The Avengers Project.

Here's what Escayg said about joining the team:

"I'm thrilled to join Crystal as Creative Director and be aligned with a team as passionate about telling great character based stories as I am."

Another notable name is Stephen Barry, who was director of the aforementioned Visceral Games. Visceral had worked on a number of acclaimed titles, like the first two Dead Space installments. The team was also working on a Star Wars game before EA closed down the studio, with the title's fate still unknown, though seemingly canceled.

Barry had this to say:

"Crystal's been around almost as long as I've been in the business. The immediate chemistry and camaraderie has been exactly what I'd hoped for."

Here are some final words from Crystal Dynamics co-head Scot Amos about the new talent and The Avengers Project:

"We're committed to delivering an incredible, completely original Avengers experience to our gamers, and that means we are always looking to add amazing developers to our existing best in class studio talent. As development progresses, our studio continues to grow. The tremendous progress we've made on The Avengers project further drives us toward our goal of crafting something all Marvel fans will be proud of, and will play for years to come. We can't wait to show you what we mean in the future."

The Avengers Project currently has no release date.
