Uncharted 2: Is A Sequel With Tom Holland Coming?

Tom Holland's Uncharted movie recently premiered on Netflix, and if you enjoyed the exciting adventures of Nathan "Nate" Drake (played by Holland) in the film. Directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Rafe Lee Judkins, the action-adventure film is based on the popular video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog, and it was originally released in theaters on Feb. 18, 2022.

The Uncharted movie serves as a prequel to the events of the 2007 videogame, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. In the movie, Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Wahlberg) recruits Nate to help him find a 500-year-old lost fortune amassed by explorer Ferdinand Magellan. Although the story begins as a heist, the adventure turns into a globe-trotting race to find the treasure before the ruthless Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas) can get it. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to acquire $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother…but only if they can learn to work together.

As of September 2022, there are no news officially confirming an Uncharted sequel. However, since the video game franchise has a lot of story material to adapt as well as a few spin-offs, it wouldn't be surprising if Sony Pictures decides to green-light a sequel.

The first Uncharted movie also left on a somewhat cliffhanger, with Nate's brother, Sam, being shown at the end of the film, imprisoned but alive and well, so there's a good chance that we'll see more of Nate's story in a sequel.

If an Uncharted sequel is officially confirmed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, it's likely that the Spider-Man: No Way Home star will return to reprise his role as Nathan Drake. Tom Holland has expressed his love for the popular video game franchise in the past, so it's likely that he won't turn down the offer if Uncharted 2 gets the greenlight.

“I just love this game. It’s so exciting,” Holland said while playing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End alongside YouTuber Jacksepticeye. “That’s what we wanted to try to create with the film — an experience similar to the games, but with a story point of view that we’ve never seen before.”

However, fans should not forget that Holland plays a young Nate Drake whereas the protagonist in the games is much older. With that being said, there's a possibility that Uncharted 2 will follow Nate's life as an older and wiser man, meaning an older actor could take the role rather than Holland, but nothing is confirmed at this point.
