Uncanny X-Men Returns This November With Weekly 10-Issue Story

It's been a few years but Marvel has finally decided to bring back Uncanny X-Men. First teased during SDCC 2018, the company has announced that the iconic X-Men series will be kicking off with a weekly 10-issue storyline and one hell of a creative team. This storyline will be so epic that numerous X-Men could die before it ends, which is either exciting or off-putting depending on how you look at it.

Launching with a shiny new #1, Uncanny X-Men will be written by Ed Brisson (Old Man Logan), Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye, Mr. and Mrs. X), and Matthew Rosenberg (Astonishing X-Men). The art side will be handled by Mahmud Asrar (X-Men Red), R.B. Silva (X-Men Blue, Amazing Spider-Man) and Pere Perez (Rogue and Gambit, Deadpool vs Punisher) with Leinil Francis Yu drawing the covers.

The storyline will be called Disassembled, which should be a very familiar title for those that have been reading Marvel comics lately. It has been described as "an epic tale of mystery and tragic disappearance" and "an adventure so earth-shattering that it could very well be the X-Men's FINAL mission." While that last part doesn't seem likely, having Disassembled as its title could mean that the X-Men are being broken up so that it can be put back together, a la The Avengers.

Considering how many current X-Men talents are working on it, this could be one hell of an event. The long weekly story did work for Avengers: No Surrender, which ended up being one of Marvel's better stories in recent memory, so it looks like Marvel is hoping that lightning strikes twice, this time with the X-Men.

Uncanny X-Men #1 will come out sometime in November.
