It was sad news for Bat-fans to hear that Ben Affleck will not be reprising the role of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves' The Batman, but now the search is on for a younger Caped Crusader in his prime. Fans have been putting up their choices to play the role, and for some reason, Twilight's Robert Pattinson is being considered?
This comes from internet artist BossLogic who says that some sources have told him that Pattinson is being considered to take over for Affleck. This is his post:
Now we don't know how accurate the rumor is, but looking at the mock-up poster, I'd say he could actually pull off a young Bruce Wayne.
While I can imagine a lot of people would think this was questionable casting, I think it still has potential to work. Everyone teases the Twilight films for being terrible, but even Pattinson himself was vocal about not liking the material. Plus, nobody had any faith in Heath Ledger when he was cast as the Joker in The Dark Knight; more than a decade later and no one has been able to live up to his performance. Let's also not forget nobody thought Ben Affleck was the right choice either.
It's said that Reeves is looking for a very specific age to play the role, with WB wanting a familiar face. At 32 years-old, Pattinson would be 14 years younger than Affleck, but I think he can still play someone younger; plus he is as familiar as faces can get being on the poster of every Twilight fan since 2008.
I wonder who else fell on WB's wishlist for young Batman.
The Batman is set to come out June 25, 2021.
