Considered as the Father of Zombie Films, the iconic George A. Romero and his legacy lives on despite his passing in 2017 as his final zombie film, Twilight of the Dead has been confirmed to be in the works under collaboration of various screenwriters to carry on his final film and help make it to theaters as he intended it.
In a report of The Hollywood Reporter, none other than the widow of the filmmaker, Suzanne Romero confirmed that Twilight of the Dead is indeed in the works with the help of Joe Knetter and Robert L. Lucas saying, "I gave him my full blessing as long as I could be there every step of the way for it to remain true to George's vision."
Suzanne Romero added, "We had a solid treatment and the beginning of the script. I can 100 percent say that George would be incredibly happy to see this continue. He wanted this to be his final stamp on the zombie genre." She even outlined the details of the film with the logline, "The story is set in a decimated world. Life has all but disappeared. But there still may be hope for humanity."
Suzanne Romero said, "This is the film he wanted to make. And while someone else will carry the torch as the director, it is very much a George A. Romero film." She is now ready and looking for a director of the film.
George Romero has been known for his zombie films since Night of The Living Dead in 1968 and such continued with Dawn of the Dead in 1978 and Day of the Dead in 1985. He also brought into the big screens Big Daddy, a zombie leader with intellect, in Land of the Dead in 2005. He had Diary of the Dead in 2007, and Survival of the Dead in 2009 as well.
His wife ensures that his legacy lives on. She runs the George A. Romero Foundation seeking to preserve the films as a legacy of her late husband and to empower the indie film makers.
