Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 2 sees Hee-do’s first day at Taeyang High School. Excitement surrounds her when she finally meets Ko Yu-Rim; however, the latter gives her a cold attitude.
At first glance, it might seem that Yu-Rim is just being a chic senior athlete, but when Hee-do sees her smiling and having fun with the other fencing team members, she starts to avoid her and wonder why she hates her so much.
On the other hand, Yi-Jin gets a few visitors night after the other as soon as he finds a place to rent a room. His younger brother came to check on him, and it was revealed that they had been living apart from each other ever since the IMF crisis happened.
Yi-Jin’s father had declared bankruptcy, and they had no choice but to live in different places so that they won’t be bothered by loan sharks. But Yi-Jin was found by an employee from his father’s company and forced him to tell where his father was.
Filled with humiliation and helplessness, Yi-Jin apologizes and promises that he will do anything to try and pay back the money owed by his family little by little.
Realizing that he is still a kid who cannot have this huge responsibility, the company employees left him alone as he promised he wouldn’t dare to be happy again knowing their hardship.
All along, Hee-do is witnessing the harsh reality unfold. She was about to give the money she owed for the ruined comic book, but Yi-Jin wished for something else.
The two kept each other company, making Yi-Jin feel that he was not alone. Hee-do confirmed that Yi-Jin attended Taeyang High School before and relayed that he was popular on the campus until now.
And instead of bragging about her practice match with Yu-Rim that morning, Hee-do stayed by his side, ready to listen to him.
Yi-Jin reminisces about his comfortable life years before the IMF crisis happened. Seeing how amazing Yi-Jin managed to hold on for this long, Hee-do asks if he wants to go back in time.
Hee-do takes him to her old high school to have fun. They shared laughter like there’s no tomorrow, and it made Yi-Jin happy just for a little while.
