Sound the alarm everyone, it's new anime announcement day!

Today's lucky contestant is a light novel series written by Keisuke Makino and illustrated by Karei titled Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu, and it features a young vampire woman who dreams of being an astronaut. The series is set to premiere in 2021 and we have all the details for you!

Running since December 2016 on the Gagaga Bunko light novel imprint, the series will have 6 volumes released in Japan by the end of the week. A manga adaptation began running in March 2018 but only got 1 volume out before it had to go to indefinite hiatus due to the poor health of the artist.

The story for this series takes place in a fictional world that had its own World War II, which has led to a cold war between two superpowers, the Federal Republic of Zirnitra in the East and the United Kingdom of Arnack in the West. This has led the two countries to turn their attention towards space and becoming the first to launch a manned space program.

In Zirnitra, there is a young man named Lev Leps who is a substitute astronaut candidate. One day he receives orders to take part in the top-secret "Nosferatu Project" which has the country experimenting with space conditions on a young vampire woman named Irina Luminesk. Tasked with watching her and training her, Lev and Irina grow closer as they realize they share the same dream of wanting to go into space.

Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu Anime Trailer, Cast, and Crew

As seen in the above trailer, the primary cast and crew have been revealed as well. Arvo Animation will produce the animation this time around, with Akitoshi Yokoyama serving as the director working off series composition written by the original creator Keisuke Makino. Hiromi Kato is working on the anime's character designs.

The primary cast list reads as follows (character names first):

Irina Luminesk: Megumi Hayashibara
Lev Leps: Kouki Uchiyama
Mikahil Yashin: Satoshi Hino
Roza Plevitskaya: Mikako Komatsu
Anya Simonyan: Hina Kino

A sci-fi love story about a vampire astronaut is totally something that I would be interested in. As a big fan of sci-fi love stories including Plastic Memories and the classic Please Teacher, this absolutely sounds like something that I could get into. This year just got a whole lot more interesting! This is a series that I can totally see topping a most anticipated series of the season list someday.
