Transformers Will Be Rebooted After Bumblebee

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Hasbro shocked moviegoers everywhere when the company announced that the Transformers cinematic universe will be getting rebooted after December's Bumblebee spinoff. Plans for future films in the franchise are currently in question, with Hasbro's Arclight Studios focusing on G.I. Joe, Micronauts, and Dungeons and Dragons in the next few years.

The news was announced during the Toy Fair 2018 Hasbro Investor Preview, according to the Transformers World 2005 forums. Fans have also confirmed that the previously listed Transformers 6 is no longer listed in the company's film slate and it looks like we won't be having any movies based on this franchise anytime soon.

Michael Bay's Transformers was never universally acclaimed, so the fact that the series' quality kept dropping after each installment was impressive. Some might claim that the film peaked with the third film but if we're being honest, it peaked after the first. However, each installment made a ton of money, aside from last year's Last Knight. Even with that, the franchise has made millions, if not billions, of dollars so this is a risky move.

Bumblebee will hit theaters on December 21.
