Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have been in partnership to co-produce the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man films since 2016 but the two production companies haven't always seen eye-to-eye when it comes to the creative direction of the iconic superhero. In fact, in 2019, Spidey's MCU journey ended abruptly when both studios failed to settle an agreement.

That meant that Spider-Man: Far From Home would've been Tom Holland's last outing in the MCU before his services became exclusive to Sony. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed and both parties were able to reach an agreement but here's the catch, they only agreed to do one more solo Spidey film and it's once again back to the grueling negotiations.

Now, in a new interview with USA Today, Tom made a stunning revelation about his MCU future, confirming that Spider-Man: No Way Home will be his last contractual obligation for both studios. Currently, he's not signed to a deal to reappear in the franchise and according to the British actor, he plans on taking a hiatus.

He said: "I'm going to take a break and travel the world. It's the first time since I signed on to ("Spider-Man: Homecoming") that I don't have a contract with someone. I might go skiing because that's something I've not really been allowed to do because it's obviously a dangerous sport. I've been very careful over the years, which is why I've become obsessed with golf because it's the only sport I can play without getting injured."

Holland's declaration indicates that he won't be appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as previously speculated. However, there's still a possibility that his contract will get renewed, and quite frankly, there's plenty of time for him to renegotiate with both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures and he can do it while on hiatus.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas this December.
