Tom Holland Says Sony Has a Plan to Remove Spider-Man From the MCU

Now that Sony and Disney have made peace, for now anyway, we're excited to see what MCU Spider-Man 3 looks like so we can stop calling it Spider-Man 3. Right now, the deal they have will last for one more solo film and a crossover, with Sony, hoping they can do more to keep Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU, maybe even adding Morbius and Venom to the mix.

However, if things don't work out, Holland has revealed that Sony already has a plan to remove Spider-Man from the MCU. Speaking with MTV News, Holland didn't reveal the plan and is quite happy to stay in the MCU but it seems like Sony is ready for anything. We can't blame them to be honest since the current deal almost didn't happen so big props to them.

For more on that, hear it from Tom Holland himself:

"[The] future for Spider-Man was still very bright with Sony and we had a really, really wonderful idea how we could sort of transition into a Spider-Man without the MCU and Tom Rothman and Amy Pascal were really confidant that they were gonna do justice and make a film of the calibre that Spider-Man requires."

We have to wonder what this idea would have been, though it probably would have had something to do with the multiverse (or the Spider-Verse if you wanna get nerdy about it). Multiple fans thought Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was going to lead to Spider-Man leaving the MCU but the deal lives on and Spidey has a home here, at least for now.

MCU Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for a July 2021 release.
