Tom Holland Gives Another Cryptic Tease About His Spider-Man Future

Spider-Man: No Way Home gave us the conclusion of Tom Holland's "Homecoming" trilogy as well as the celebration of the 20-year history of the character's cinematic iterations. Now that Holland has finished his trilogy, of course, the next question now is will we see him play Spider-Man again in another new trilogy. There have been rumors that Marvel and Sony already have plans for the character's future in the MCU, but according to Holland himself, that might not be the case yet.

In a group interview panel with Deadline's Pete Hammond which also had Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Holland was asked if Spider-Man: No Way Home was his last turn as Spider-Man or if he will be playing him in more films. While he didn't give a definitive answer since he doesn't know about it yet, he did express his gratitude for the experience that he had working on No Way Home and iterated that he is open to continue playing the character in more films.

"This film for me was as special as an experience could ever be," Holland said. "Sharing the screen with these guys. Playing Spider-Man could be quite an alienating experience because, you know, we're, you know, the only three blokes who have done it. So, to share that with you two, it's been such a wonderful experience, of which I have such amazing memories. I don't know, there's part of me that feels like it's the perfect time to jump off the building and swing off into the sunset and let the next lucky young kid come in to don the suit."

He continued, "I know I love this character and I know that I am not ready to say goodbye, but if it is time for me to say goodbye, I will do so proudly, knowing that I have achieved everything I wanted to with this character. And sharing it with these boys will forever be forever one of the most special experiences of my career. So if it's time, it's time. If it's not, it's not. But at the moment I don't know."

Based on Holland's response, it seems that he is not yet aware of the future plans regardings his character unless Marvel and Sony told him not to say any of the plans that they shared with him. While it may sound like there are no definitive plans yet about him playing the role in future films, there have been rumors that Marvel and Sony have already started working on a fourth Spider-Man film and, given the success of No Way Home, it would be hard to believe that they have no plans to continue Holland's Spider-Man. The ending of the film also set up the path for him to be a more independent Spider-Man unlike in the "Homecoming" trilogy. Let's just wait and see for any official announcements about what's next for him.
