Tom Holland has experienced a great deal of success as an actor thanks to his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Spider-Man. Obviously, his life became an open book and it's unfortunately the price he has to pay for the fame that comes with him being a celebrity.
Now, it looks like Holland wants to live his life in peace to focus on his mental health. The MCU star revealed that he's setting social media aside to look after his well-being. According to the 26-year-old actor, he decided to delete his Instagram and Twitter applications because he finds both platforms to be "overstimulating" and "overwhelming".
In a video posted on his Instagram, he said: "I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online, and ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app."
Tom's social media pages have not been taken down so there's still a chance he could pop up on the platform every now and then. However, don't expect him to be as active as he used to be.

Holland wasn't the first Marvel actor to lay low from social media. In September 2020, Elizabeth Olsen quit Instagram, her only social media account after allegedly getting harassed by some fans for not mourning the death of Chadwick Boseman publicly. Last year, the Scarlet Witch actress revealed that she has no plans of returning to the platform.
As for Tom Holland, his next outing in the MCU will come in Spider-Man 4 which is currently in development.
