Tom Hanks is Mr. Rogers in First Trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Tom Hanks is a beloved figure in all of cinema from Forrest Gump to Toy Story, and he's set to play the part of one of the most cherished personalities on TV—Mr. Rogers. Just in, Sony has dropped the first trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood starring Hanks as the ever-optimistic Mr. Rogers.

Here's the official description:

Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America's most beloved neighbor.

Seeing that a lot of people grew up watching Tom Hanks as well, you could say that he's been perfectly cast as Fred Rogers. Even behind the scenes, Hanks remains to be one of the most wholesome celebrities out there—just like Mr. Rogers who seems to have been the same onscreen and off.

Rogers is a very interesting story when it comes to the legacy he left on television, and he seems to be finding his way back in the spotlight recently. Just last year, a documentary was released focusing on his story called Won't You Be My Neighbor? and I suggest you check it out before you catch the biopic.

If you're not that into documentaries though, you should check out Jim Carrey's fantastic show Kidding, in which Carrey plays a character who was pretty much inspired by Mr. Rogers.

Catch A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood when it hits theaters Nov. 22.
