Tom Cruise remains one of Hollywood's most bankable stars and it's absolutely astonishing that he still manages to keep himself relevant after over four decades in the industry.
While he's been attached to action films for most of his career, Cruise has taken on other acting genres, well, except for superhero movies. Many of you are probably aware by now of the long-standing rumors of him being among Marvel Studios' choices to play Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now, a hot new rumor claims that the 60-year-old screen icon could finally star in a comic book movie.

According to insider KC Walsh (via One Take News), the Top Gun and Mission Impossible star is being courted by DC Studios to join its rebooted film and television franchise.
While the specifics were not disclosed, several sources indicated that he could play Green Lantern in the new DCU should he accept the offer from James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Of course, nothing official has been made as of writing so it's still best to take this rumor with a huge grain of salt.
However, it's worth noting that Cruise recently offered high praises for the franchise's current film The Flash and he even reportedly called director Andy Muschietti just to rave about the Ezra Miller-led film. Could it be a sign?

As it stands, Gunn has yet to address the wild casting rumor but if it does end up being true, Cruise will undoubtedly be a major player in the new DCU and will give the franchise a huge boost of star power.
I highly doubt though that he'll actually play Hal Jordan in the franchise because he's obviously too old for the part.
