Todd McFarlane Is Open To Selling His Spawn Reboot To Netflix

Todd McFarlane's Spawn reboot might not be scheduled to begin production till next year, but it looks like the original comic book creator and now writer, producer, and director of the film project is looking out for the future of his movie.

Sitting down with ComicBook.com while preparing for production to begin, McFarlane decided to talk about the possibility of sending his movie to Netflix. According to the comic book writer and director, he wouldn't mind the thought of his movie making a future home at Netflix or any other streaming service online.

"Yes to all of the above," McFarlane answered when asked by the publication whether he'd be willing to sell Spawn to a streaming service. "I think the world's changing in front of our very eyes in how we're going to consume not only entertainment but even movies."

"There might be a day when you hit a button and Star Wars is on your computer and you won't have to go to the theatre," the director added.

McFarlane definitely isn't wrong. Online streaming has become a popular platform for media, so much so that big studios like Disney have begun working on their own streaming site to host their own movies and series. Some of Disney's films might still be available on Netflix, but once Disney's site launches in 2019, then fans are going to have to migrate to a new streaming platform if they want all-Marvel, All-Star Wars, and all-Disney material.

McFarlane probably wouldn't be losing anything much if he had Spawn released in Netflix instead of cinemas.

Spawn doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
