If the previous one or two episodes made you forget that To Your Eternity is supposed to be a tearjerker, Episode 5 reminded us just that - with a vengeance. The latest chapter in Fushi's life was a punch, and though we still got some sort of arc closure, it's impossible not to think about it and be sad.
The shonen work will only get more exciting the more emotional stimulation Fushi receives - and more heartbreaking. To Your Eternity episode 6 promises another significant relationship for our many characters, and perhaps his most important lesson in humanity yet.

To Your Eternity Episode 5 Recap
To Your Eternity is a 20-episodeanime, adapting an award-winning manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitoki Oima. It follows an enigmatic immortal being who first comes to the earth nameless and emotionless. The being can take any form, sentient or not, but starts with no identity and becomes increasingly human through stimulation.
Warning: If you have yet to watch To Your Eternity Episode 5 you might want to skip to the next section. There will be spoilers below.
In Episode 5, Parona attempts to cut a piece off the bear monster who resembles her village's god. In doing so, she hopes to prove that the god is dead, persuading the villagers not to sacrifice little girls to him anymore. However, March prevents her from defiling the bear corpse - annoyingly so, perhaps, but it goes on to show how compassionate the little girl is.
Parona concedes, so she, March, Fushi, and an old lady who is also a prisoner manage to escape. Not for long, however. Soon, they are pursued again. To protect Parona, March takes an arrow that wounds her fatally, while Fushi tries to save them.
Ever since her first appearance, it was impossible not to think that March was kind of marked for death. Her thirst for life, her dream to learn, grow and become a mother... it all felt like it was there just to break our hearts. This didn't make it any less of a punch in the gut. March flirted with death so many times and escaped so narrowly. Even those who found her annoying wouldn't be able to help to want her to make it.
Having lost another sister to an arbitrary, cruel system, Parona no longer wants to live, but Fushi, who understands more and more because of March's care, urges her to keep living. Parona is thus able to go back to her village, deliver March's last message to her parents, and eventually kill Hayase - although the latter doesn't give her any satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Fushi has to run away. A chapter is over for him, but he still carries March, his "mother" with him. Where will the road take him next?
