To Your Eternity released its 9th episode today, and thankfully for our hearts, it was a bit lighter than the last one. Gugu and Fushi bonded over their deepest memories, reliable or not, and the result was a very satisfying episode, which nevertheless left us anxious about our protagonist's fate.
Fushi was particularly insightful in this one, even starting to understand love and the importance of helping one's friends. Wild to think that he was a mere orb so long ago! Will he manage to become a full human, however? Is this even the mission he was sent to the earth for?

To Your Eternity Episode 9 Recap
To Your Eternity is adapting an award-winning manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitoki Oima, who is also the author of A Silent Voice. In it, we follow the story of a mysterious immortal being who first comes to the earth nameless and emotionless. The being, who comes to be known as Fushi can take any form but starts with no identity and becomes increasingly human through stimulation.

Episode 9 was a bit of a breather episode. Gugu and Fushi enjoy some peaceful time together, with the former remembering his life with his brother and the latter trying to make sense of his scattered memories. Things get more complicated when Rean makes an appearance - and expects to see Gugu's deformed face.
At first, she and Gugu have trouble understanding each other, but it is later revealed that she ran away from home because her family was trying to police every aspect of her identity. Rean had been walking around with a helmet in order not to be recognized by her family's servants, but she gives it up to help Gugu feel more comfortable.
When Rean is found out by her governess, Fushi comes to the rescue but is caught by the mysterious being who taunted him a few episodes later. Will he manage to survive this time?
