While Star Wars fans have come to know and love Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico in The Last Jedi, there could have actually been a different actress that nearly got the part and was so close to getting it that she even read with John Boyega for the role.

"This was before The Force Awakens came out, and they were already reading for the sequel," To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Lana Condor told StyleCaster. She also revealed that she met with Boyega to do a chemistry read. "He was eating Sugarfish, and I had a meeting to just get to know him," Condor added.

"I remember looking at him and being like, ‘He has no idea what's about to happen to his life. He is going to be the lead in Star Wars. That is so cool.' And then he blew up overnight," the actress said.

Although, Condor admits that if she actually went ahead and done Star Wars, she wouldn't have been able to star in the Netflix film, which became a big hit amongst the streaming platform's subscribers. "So that's an example of one door closes and another opens," she added.

On the other hand, since Tico was one of the main characters in The Last Jedi, fans were excited to see her character's role in The Rise of Skywalker. Unfortunately, Rose Tico only had barely over a minute of screentime in the film.

While fans were disappointed with her scenes mostly ending up in the cutting room floor, Tran revealed in a recent interview that she's "really grateful" to be a part of something of that caliber. She learned that "there's always going to be people who aren't happy" with the results, so Tran's biggest lesson is to just "have fun and be present in the moment."
