Timothy Olyphant Accepted 'Pile of Sh-t' Hitman Movie Gig Because He Needed The Money

The movie adaptation of the video game Hitman isn't the most critically adored, but it is valuable to Timothy Olyphant, who played lead character Agent 47.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he revealed that he had to make some money to be able to afford the new house he bought after Deadwood, a movie revival of which with the original cast is coming this year, was unexpectedly cancelled by HBO.

He mistakenly thought that the show would stay on the air longer than it did because not long before the cancellation, he and co-star Ian McShane were given a raise. He decided not to sell the house, but had to take some gigs to be able to pay it off. This led to him playing Agent 47 in Hitman.

While Olyphant only accepted the gigs because he needed a job, he considers the whole experience as valuable. Even then, this doesn't change the fact that he still thought Hitman was a horrible movie, at least based on how he described the film.

Olyphant is set to appear in Quentin Tarantino's star-studded ninth film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood releasing July 26.
