Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, and Jason Momoa Feature in New Stills from Dune

COVID-19 may still be here, but theaters are slowly trying to re-open. With Tenet finally hitting screens, Legendary is now gearing up for the release of Denis Villeneuve's Dune later this December. Just in, we have some new stills featuring the star-studded cast including Oscar Isaac, Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa.

Just like with the recent Star Wars movies, there seems to be an emphasis on practical sets as compared to the green screen. Chalamet told Empire:

"That part of the Wadi Rum is so awe-inspiring, you might as well be getting chased by that cliff in the background… It wasn't a green-screen or anything. That's one of the most thrilling parts of the book and the movie. We had the sketches. That was a lesson for me. On a Call Me By Your Name or Beautiful Boy it can be counterintuitive to see the storyboards because then maybe you limit yourself based on a camera angle or whatever. It's the opposite [here] because, for a sequence with the sandworm chasing you, I could never imagine that."

Seeing that Villeneuve is now a must-see sci-fi director, a lot of people are excited to watch what he has in store for one of the most beloved science fiction pieces to have ever been written. Though Villeneuve has always been a critical darling, his films have admittedly been commercial flops.

Hopefully, with an all-star cast and some solid marketing, Dune will become a modern sci-fi masterpiece that everyone has been waiting for.

Dune will actually be split into two parts, and the first movie is set to hit theaters this Dec. 18.
