Thunderbolts* star David Harbour recently addressed the mysterious addition of the asterisk in the MCU film's title.
Earlier this year, Marvel Studios revealed that an asterisk has been added to the title of the highly-anticipated MCU team-up film. No reason was given regarding why they decided to include it.
Since then, fans have been speculating on the meaning behind the asterisk on the title and whether it suggests that there would be a bigger reveal regarding the team that they assembled for the film.

In a recent interview, Harbour was asked to weigh in on the meaning behind the asterisk in the title of Thunderbolts*.
As expected, he didn't explain why it was added in the title but he teased that there is an exciting explanation behind it.
"I mean, they retroactively put the asterisk [in]. The asterisk was an idea that someone had... What can I say that's not going to get me in trouble? The asterisk is very cool," the actor said.
"I understand why people might put an asterisk there. I'm excited for the viewers to see that as well. But I, again, I just can't say anymore."
While we didn't hear any explanation, it is still an exciting tease for fans as it continues the promise that there is an explanation for why they added the asterisk in the title out of nowhere.
The most likely scenario is that a major event will happen in the film that could potentially change the title of the team and perhaps have some ramifications on the MCU moving forward.
For now, fans should wait for more details regarding the film in the coming months leading up to its release in the summer of next year. Perhaps they will explain the asterisk once they do the press tour.
