Thousands of fans are petitioning for the resurrection of Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A fan by the name of Méline LOISEAU took to Change.org to make her case about why Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man should come back alive after sacrificing himself to save the world from Thanos and his army in Avengers: Endgame.
The petition was made last month, not long after the premiere of film, where the story of the character came to an end. The person writes:
Tony Stark was always ready to risk his life, suffer, and sacrifice himself for anyone, without ever receiving anything in return. Since the beginning, since he was a kid. He can never be happy, and when he finally got what he always wanted, and deserved, his wife, his daughter, his family.. he died. He didn't deserve this and it's not fair, after everything he's been through, and done for everyone, he deserves to live and see his daughter grow up.
The fan also noted that Stark helped a lot of people, not only in the MCU, but also in the real world including the author.
He has helped so many people (in the mcu and in our world), he has helped people to live (including me) to overcome their problems, to accept themselves, to face life. He's so important. He saved our lives and it's our turn to save him.
We love him so much. We love him 3000. Without him, now, we are totally lost. For many people, he was their reason to live and hold on in life.
At the time of writing, more than 16,000 fans have signed the petition, and it is quickly racking up more signatures as more people discover it.
The fate of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame really seems to have an air of finality to it though. Marvel Studios might opt for introducing a successor to Iron Man as opposed to bringing him back.
His sacrifice is such an important thing in the whole MCU and is basically the biggest takeaway from Avengers: Endgame, and it might lose weight seeing him return after such an emotional and heavy goodbye. However, should the petition gather more support, maybe something could change, but fans shouldn't get their hopes up.
