Folks had high hopes for Thor: Love and Thunder but the film failed to hit the mark with fans and critics. While it can still be considered a box office triumph, earning over 760 million worldwide, the negative reviews it ended up getting seemingly led to Chris Hemsworth souring on the idea of doing a fifth film.
Just recently, the Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran cast doubt on his return to the billion-dollar franchise and while he doesn't want to admit it, Love and Thunder might have left a bad taste in his mouth.
Now, the star of Netflix's Extraction 2 is once again weighing in on his next MCU adventure and this time around, he seems more open to the idea but admits he'll only reprise the role under one specific condition.
Chris Hemsworth Seemingly Changes His Mind About MCU Future; Would Reprise Thor Under One Condition
In an interview with Spanish magazine AccionCine (translated to English), Hemsworth revealed what would make him say yes to returning as the God of Thunder. According to the Australian star, it would all depend on the type of story Marvel will present him with, adding that it needs to be unique.
He said: "I have no idea. I've said it before, it all depends on the type of story. It has to be something unique. What I don't want is to do the same with the character until the end, until there is a feeling of exhaustion in the audience. But if there is excitement for it, I am always willing to return. If there is a new story, it has to be something very special. I'm sure there's something exciting to tell, so we'll have to wait and see. You have to wait to find it."

It's such a shame that Taika Waititi was able to redeem the character only for him to return to his polarizing roots. We still don't know if Marvel Studios will actually greenlight a fifth Thor film but if it does happen and Taika is tasked to helm the project, he might want to dial down on the humor and utilize the same formula that made Thor: Ragnarok work.
