Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi Reportedly Being Considered To Direct Deadpool 3

Taika Waititi's experienced a whole lot of success over the years. Marvel couldn't help but take notice of the Kiwi director after the success of his indie movies like What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Giving Waititi the reigns over Thor: Ragnarok, the director was able to bring new life to the Thor film franchise with his vibrant color and humor.

Now that Waititi is set to direct the fourth Thor movie, Love and Thunder, word on the street say that Disney is considering the filmmaker for Deadpool 3 too.

According to a report by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, the executives over at Marvel Studios may want to place Waititi in the director's seat for the third Deadpool movie. It's been a while since Disney's completed its merger with 21st Century Fox. Marvel fans have long since been waiting for Marvel to bring the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If Marvel were really to hand Deadpool 3 to Waititi, then it would be the very first film for Ryan Reynold's Merc with the Mouth in the MCU.

While the idea of having Waititi direct Deadpool 3 might sound perfect to some, we're not quite sure whether the director's the best fit for the movie. Waititi's might be known for his offbeat and bombastic humor, but it doesn't really fit with the raunchy and gritty brand of Deadpool. Marvel may need to hire a different director for the next Deadpool movie.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
