Aside from the movie that became a massive success, Black Panther's soundtrack was also a hit amongst fans, especially Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd's "Pray for Me." However, the artists are caught in quite a kerfuffle because a lawsuit has been filed against the said song.

In a report from TMZ, a band called Yeasayer claims that "Pray for Me" stole a part from their song titled Sunrise. The part in question is a "distinctive choral performance" that the band recorded themselves, describing it as something "compromised of male voices in their highest registers," along with an "animated, pulsing vibrato."

Yeasayer says The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar slightly modified that part of their song with the "intent to conceal the infringement," used up to 8 different times throughout the artists' song. The band claims the part was "immediately recognizable" in the pair's track and is asking for all of the profits and damages for "Pray for Me." The lawsuit is also asking for an injunction to block further sales and airplay of the song.

The vibrate chords for "Pray for Me" are said to be a distinct echo of the fictional culture of Wakanda in the film and were rooted in real African cultural practices. While it is possible for some to recognize the part from "Sunrise" in "Pray for Me," it is best to leave it up to the experts.

As for the movie, a sequel will be in the works but a release date is yet to be revealed.
