Marvel Studios' upcoming theatrical release Thor: Love and Thunder is already setting records previously unheard of in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it's all because of Chris Hemsworth's much-talked-about nude scene. The God of Thunder's rear end was purposely blurred out in the trailer and many fans believe that the sequence won't make it in the final cut of the film.

We recently confirmed that Thor's racy scene will in fact be in Thor 4 with the film receiving a PG-13 rating that will include "partial nudity". Now, Taika Waititi is opening up about the internet-breaking NSFW scene and according to the director, it's far more important than anyone thinks.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, the Korg actor revealed that Odinson showing off his posterior was always part of the script and that Hemsworth himself agreed to the idea. He explains: "We all knew we wanted to do it from very early on. That was in the first draft of the script actually and Chris was on board as well."

Taika added that "it would be a waste" not to feature Hemsworth's godlike physique and that he's doing the fans a huge favor. He continued: "It would be a crime against humanity. So, you know, it's, you have to provide for the masses."

It's not the first time that the MCU showcased partial nudity in their films. In fact, Hulk also showed off his backside in Thor: Ragnarok although that one was obviously CGI'd.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently slated for release on July 8, 2022.
