Thor: Love and Thunder Will Reportedly Feature Black Panther's The Goddess Bast

One of the MCU films that are set to be released this year is Thor: Love and Thunder. While the exact plot details are still unknown, we do know that it will feature the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster as she becomes the Mighty Thor and a trip to the Greek Pantheon since Russell Crowe will reportedly make an appearance as Zeus. Now, it looks like there is another character in the Pantheon who is set to appear in the film that is connected to one of the MCU properties.

According to Cosmic Circus, Australian actress Akosia Sabet is set to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder playing the role of The Goddess Bast, a goddess related to the Wakandan mythos of the MCU. The casting news was spotted through her IMDb page and her Showcast profile where she is credited to be playing "Bastet" in the upcoming film. While Marvel didn't officially announce nor confirm this report, there is a reason to believe that it might be accurate since the Showcast profile can only be edited by the actress or her team.

In case you're not familiar with the character of Bastet, she is the Panther Goddess that led a warrior shaman to the heart-shaped herb where he became the first Black Panther to unite the five tribes of Wakanda. Her potential appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder will be the first time that we'll see the character in a more human form since we've mostly seen her as a statue.

It is interesting to hear that Bastet will be appearing in the upcoming film. Of course, it adds connectivity to the rest of the MCU, particularly Black Panther. It also shows that the film will indeed be exploring the mythical side more since they will be featuring characters like Zeus and Bastet. It does tell us that they will go all their way on exploring the mythos of the MCU and, in some ways, the gods will have some involvement in the story although we don't know yet how exactly they will play.

Either way, the film has become more intriguing since we know now that Thor and the other characters will meet the gods at some point and it just tells us that it will be as bonkers as Thor: Ragnarok. It is very exciting to find out what the upcoming film will have in store for us.
