In just a few more days, Chris Hemsworth will be back as the God of Thunder in Thor: Love and Thunder. Helmed by Taika Waititi, the upcoming film will follow Hemsworth's titular character in his journey to self-rediscovery while dealing with the latest god-slaying villain Gorr The God Butcher — played by critically-acclaimed actor Chrisitan Bale.
Thankfully, Thor's friends will accompany him in the battle against the menacing Gorr, including the Guardians of the Galaxy crew, Korg, Jane Foster as Lady Thor, and Valkyrie as the new King of Asgard. However, one Thor-centric character that's missing in action is no other than Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, who was very close to Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie during Thor: Ragnarok. Now, fans can't help to wonder what is up with the Hulk and Valkyrie dynamic duo.
"[Valkyrie and Bruce Banner are] really good friends," Thompson told Comicbook.com. "They're pen pals and they text each other and, and they're on various group chats, but they definitely check in. They'll FaceTime each other occasionally just to see, see how the other is doing."
Although Banner's Hulk would certainly add another layer of humor for Thor: Love and Thunder, the upcoming film is already ensemble enough for Mark Ruffalo. With Natalie Portman's return and Christian Bale's debut in the MCU, it's a wise decision for director Taika Waititi to not include the Marvel veteran. Instead, the spotlight will now be focused on Portman's Jane Foster, which is set to be the actress’ goofiest role to date.
For fans who are disappointed that they won't see the Hulk-Valkyrie hilarious duo in the upcoming, Valkyrie will now be occupied with Jane Foster's Lady Thor. Based on the trailer, Valkyrie and Foster seemingly establish themselves as the latest dangerous yet laughable Marvel heroines duo.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit the big screens on July 8.
