Thor: Love and Thunder Star Natalie Portman Says She’s Getting Jacked as Marvel’s Mighty Thor

It looks like Natalie Portman is getting ready to train for her role as Jane Foster's Mighty Thor in the highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder.

Taking to Instagram to chat with Serena Williams, Marvel actress and Academy-Award winner Natalie Portman decided to talk about her new role as Marvel's female Thor. Fans weren't expecting Jane Foster to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Thor (Chris Hemsworth) told his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) that he'd ended things with Jane in Thor: Ragnarok, so it came as quite a surprise when Marvel announced that Taika Waititi would be developing a movie for Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor in the MCU.

"She's actually The Mighty Thor," Portman told Williams. "The comics had the female Thor when Jane becomes Thor, and she's The Mighty Thor."

It seems like Foster's already started researching her character. For those who aren't familiar with the comics, Mighty Thor is the name given Jane Foster after she gets cancer and is deemed worthy of Mjolnir. Lifting the hammer, Jane Foster becomes the Asgardian God of Thunder and goes on different battles to protect Asgard and the Ten Realms.

Like Thor himself, Foster's version of the Asgardian is pretty ripped, and it looks like Portman is planning to train extensively for the part. Though production has yet to start, Portman is getting ready to train hard.

"We haven't started," she said. "More time to get jacked. Which I have not. I've got the carbo-loading down, but not the exercise part. Obviously everything is weird because of pandemic time, who knows what's happening. It will be exciting and I'm interested to see if I can gain muscle."

We definitely can't wait to see the results of Portman's training. We wonder how jacked the actress is going to be for the role.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere on February 11, 2022.
