Thor: Love and Thunder Star Chris Hemsworth to Work on Extraction 2 Soon

Chris Hemsworth is truly a busy man. Although the Thor: Love and Thunder star is currently preparing to work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel, he is already confirmed to begin shooting for the action-packed Extraction 2 before the end of the year.

Sam Hargrave, who directed the first Extraction film, recently confirmed with Collider that the plans for filming the sequel to the Netflix movie are still set. Of course, that is it isn't hampered by COVID-19.

"[That's] still the case, COVID-pending. That's kind of everyone's little caveat right now, but we're moving forward on it as if we're shooting in the fall," Hargrave said. He then added that Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo is hard at work on the new screenplay.

"Joe is still finalizing the script. We're all excited to read it. I've read different iterations, but I'm excited to read what he turns in," Hargrave stated. The director concluded by expressing his excitement about working on a second film with Hemsworth.

"We're all looking forward to getting back in the saddle and hopefully bringing another action-packed adventure in the Extraction universe," Hargrave said.

It might be a good thing that Extraction 2 is still in development. After all, Hemsworth still has to work on Thor: Love and Thunder. Hopefully, we'll get new updates about the Netflix sequel in the next month.

Extraction 2 has not yet been given an official release date. In the meantime, Hemsworth will return as the God of Thunder in Thor: Love and Thunder, which is scheduled to premiere on May 6, 2022.

The first installment of Extraction is available on Netflix.
