Production for most projects are at a standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it looks like Marvel Studios is working hard behind the scenes. Scoopers are also hard at work during production shutdown, and this time, a rumor that's making the rounds suggests that a mysterious new character will be making an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder.

This report comes from The Illuminerdi, claiming that a casting call for the Thor sequel shows an open role for a supporting lead character named Zappa. The studio is allegedly looking for a young black male between 11 to 12 years old, that's either African-American or Black British. The outlet also claims the character is listed as someone who is "intelligent, fearless, mature, and with a good sense of humor."

The name Zappa doesn't ring a bell with existing Marvel Comics characters. This suggests that it is either an entirely new character to make his/her debut in the movie or is already a familiar face that's hidden under a codename.

Based on the description, the outlet proposes the theory that Zappa could be a reincarnation of Idris Elba's Heimdall. As fans may very well know, the character died in Avengers: Infinity War. And since the overall narrative of Thor: Ragnarok is about death and rebirth, there is a chance that this character is the new Heimdall.

For now, this report is yet to be confirmed by the studio, but it would be interesting to see which character this turns out to be once he/she actually appears in the movie.
