Thor: Christopher Eccleston Open to Reprising Malekith on One Condition

A lot of people didn't like Thor: The Dark World and It's no surprise that Christopher Eccleston who played the villain Malekith wasn't a fan either. After half a decade though, Eccleston seems to have had a change of heart when it comes to the MCU.

Talking at the New York Comic-Con (via RadioTimes), Eccleston comments that he thought Thor: Ragnarok was "brilliantly written" and that he would work on an MCU film if he got to collaborate with that crew. "If it was the guy[s] who wrote the third… I'll do that," he says.

As for his apprehension to The Dark World, there were a lot of things he mentioned that ticked him off, from the lengthy make-up process to the lack of humor in the film. He also understands that there are actually some people who love Dark World (myself included), and he said:

"I understand that some people love that particular film, and some of you actually like Malekith the naughty elf, so that's only my experience within it… But I know that people love the film and I accept that and I'm careful about it. I'm so diplomatic these days!"

While there doesn't seem to be any space for Malekith to return, I can imagine him making some kind of cameo in Eternals. Maybe they can even resurrect him as they did with the Red Skull in the future. I mean, if Darth Maul can survive being cut in half, then Malekith can very likely make a comeback.

We don't know if Malekith will ever return, but Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
