In a recent interview on Sunday Today (via Variety), Ryan Reynolds shared that he is currently writing the next Deadpool movie for the MCU.
However, to fans' surprise, it won't be a standalone movie for the Merc with a Mouth, but rather a supporting character for the other heroes.
"I have some stuff kind of written, but I don’t think I am ever going to center him again. He is a supporting character. He is a guy who is great in a group," the actor said.
This is not the first time Reynolds has hinted that Deadpool won't be starring in another standalone movie and will instead become a supporting player.
"If he becomes either, we’re at the end. Deadpool works so well appearing with the X-Men and Avengers, but he always needs to stay an outsider. His ultimate dream is to be accepted and appreciated. But he can’t be accepted," he explained in an interview last year.
"His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humor works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies. If and when he does become an Avenger or X-Men, we’re at the end of his journey."
So far, there is no confirmation yet on whether Deadpool will appear in the upcoming Avengers movies.

The plot details regarding Avengers: Doomsday are still under wraps, but it is expected to feature a multiversal team-up between the heroes in Earth-616, the Fantastic Four from Earth-838, and the X-Men from the Fox universe against Doctor Doom.
