Before we see the Thor and Hulk team up in Thor: Ragnarok, the two Avengers will team up in a six-issue mini-series coming exclusively to digital comic service Comixology. The series is called Thor vs Hulk: Champions of the Universe, and the first issue will be digitally released on September 6. Each issue will have these two powerhouses take on various challenges around the Marvel universe, so that they can face a mysterious being called The Champion.
Jeremy Whitley, who wrote The Unstoppable Wasp for Marvel, will be writing the six-issue series. He will be joined by artists Simone Buonfantino and Alti Firmasyah, who will illustrate each action-packed issue. While the series will take place in the main Marvel universe, it will likely be friendly to newer readers who are excited for the next MCU movie.
Whitley had this to say about Thor vs Hulk: Champions of the Universe:
"Every issue is a new world, a new task, and new trials for the God of Thunder and the Great Green Goliath. Readers will get to see some of their favorite elements of the Marvel Universe and a handful of new ones. We wanted to make a mini-series jam-packed with so much action that readers would come back to it again and again."
This isn't the first Marvel series to be exclusive to Comixology. Prior to this series, Marvel announced Immortal Iron Fists in San Diego Comic-Con, a six-issue mini-series that has Danny Rand teach a teenage girl the ways of Kun-Lun.
Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor's quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization. Thor: Ragnarok comes to cinemas on November 3.
