This Magic: The Gathering Rare Foil Already Went Up in Price Before Opposition Agent Was Revealed

The official previews for Commander Legends continue today with brand new Magic: The Gathering cards being revealed including powerful legends and spells. There's one particular black rare card that does something no ever Magic card has done before: Control your opponents while searching their library, and you may cast the cards they find. That card is called Opposition Agent; here it is:

Cards that let your opponents search their library would synergize well with this card, and there's one foil version of a rare that already went up in price two days before Opposition Agent was revealed, and that's Maralen of the Mornsong.

Over on Twitter, MTGStocks writer Peter pointed out how the foil version of Maralen of the Mornsong already went up in price two days before the new Commander Legends rare was revealed. As you can see in his tweet below, its price went up to nearly $30 USD.

Peter also pointed out that regular copies and foils of Maralen have already been bought out. With Wizards of the Coast giving preview cards, it shouldn't be a surprise that some people have early information about the cards, and this is a perfect example of how early information of a card that synergizes well with a new card could affect its market significantly.

Maralen of the Mornsong lets each player search their library for a card at the beginning of each of their draw steps. With Opposition Agent in play, you will be able to take control of those moments your opponents search, and have more access to casting their spells from their library.

Commander Legends product and events will be available on Magic Online on Thursday, November 19, 2020. The tabletop version will be released on Nov. 20.
