Fans can't stop talking about Squid Game, and it comes as no surprise because the show was easily one of the best this year! The globally recognize Netflix series has created a fan base already, and with this comes little nuggets of information.

Viewers have fallen in love with some of the characters of the show. For some reason, some of them resonate with us. But, can you imagine a different set of actors playing the characters in Squid Game?

So, here's a little bit of a fun list for you! Here are 4 Squid Game actors that almost did not make the cut:

1. Anupam Tripathi as Abdul Ali

<a href= "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_-Emiqi1l8&t=53s"><img alt="" data-imagecredit="Netflix" data-imagecrediturl= "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_-Emiqi1l8&t=53s" src= "http://cdn.epicstream.com/assets/uploads/ckeditor/images/1633415013_Screenshot%20at%20Oct%2005%2014-22-48.png" style="height:373px; width:590px"></a>

Are you telling Abdul Ali could have been played by a different actor? Anupam perfectly fitted the character, and there is no way we can imagine someone else being our loveable Abdul.

Not only is Anupam Tripathi a very good actor, but he has also appeared in several Korean TV shows before Squid Game, including Space Sweeper and Hospital Playlist.

Apparently, Squid Game's Abdul Ali was supposed to be played by Carlo Aquino, a Filipino actor. According to Aquino's claims, he was not able to play the part due to the COVID-19 restrictions in South Korea at that time. Well, better luck next time. We are just as happy with Anupam playing as Ali.

2. Jung Ho Yeon as Kang Sae Byok and Lee Yoo Mi as Ji Yeong

<a href= "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_-Emiqi1l8&t=53s"><img alt="" data-imagecredit="Netflix" data-imagecrediturl= "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_-Emiqi1l8&t=53s" src= "http://cdn.epicstream.com/assets/uploads/ckeditor/images/1633415048_Screenshot%20at%20Oct%2005%2014-22-32.png" style="height:382px; width:568px"></a>

Our favorite Squid Game duo, Sae Byok and Ji Yeong who formed easily one of the brightest and deepest connections during the game were not almost played by Jung Ho Yeon and Ji Yeong, respectively.

According to Squid Game director Hwang Dong Hyuk, in the script, both characters were originally gendered as male, but later on, he realized that female characters would be a better choice.

Squid Game would not be the same without these two. They played a pivotal part in the entire series.

3.Wi Ha Joon as Hwang Jun Ho

Lastly, our favorite police heartthrob Hwang Jun Ho. Wi Ha Joon played the hot policeman perfectly, and there is no way we are going to let anyone else play him in Squid Game Season 2 should Netflix finally order for another installment.

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk revealed that the character Hwang Jun Ho was never originally part of the script. But, as the story came along he realized how important his character was to the game.
