image: Wizards of the Coast
Back in the 90s, when Magic: The Gathering wasn't as popular as it is now, Wizards of the Coast had some fantastic magazine ads for its popular trading card game, and now, a batch of those pages have been shared online for us to look back at how they promoted Magic in magazines.
The ads for various Magic: The Gathering sets released in the 90s including Ice Age, Homelands, Alliances, Stronghold, Apocalypse, and Portal. Like a lot of things that came out in the 90s, you'll probably find some of these ads goofy but at least they're not as cheesy as the Magic commercials they used to run in MTV. There's even a page of an awkward interview with Magic creator Richard Garfield. There's a nostalgic charm to these pages. The last image even shows a parody game WOTC pulled out of the market.
