The World's Finest Assassin is expected to dominate the isekai scene over the Fall 2021 period - and it's just premiered yesterday. Having already scored over 7.5/10 on MyAnimeList - more than decent for a first episode - Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha promises to be an action-packed work if nothing else.
Based on a light novel (show me a classic isekai that isn't), written by Tsukiyo Rui and illustrated by Reia, The World's Finest Assassin offers a twist to your typical isekai. Rather than being an office worker, or someone leading an ordinary life, the main character who gets isekai'd isn't exactly ordinary: in fact, he used to be the world's finest assassin.

The World's Finest Assassin is an isekai and won't let you forget that - the sub-genre usually comes with a set of expectations. In the case of Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha it also comes with fanservice, so if you aren't comfortable with that this anime might not be for you.
The good thing is that The World's Finest Assassin also addresses these issues and does something different, at least as far as the main character is concerned. It's rare to see an isekai character that used to be a terrifyingly competent figure before being transported or reincarnated, and it could possibly be a fun twist later on.
Moreover, the main character is no saint - no assassin is, but media about them seem to be in fashion, and for good reason. If you love morally grey characters, this looks like a great anime to check out this season.
Lug Tuatha De, as our hero comes to be called, gets reincarnated as a noble, who must still use his assassin skill to save the world, as he must stop an all-powerful hero who threatens to destroy it.
