The Witcher’s Henry Cavill Now Referred To As Ex-Superman

There's been a lot of excitement growing over The Witcher the past few days. Lead star Henry Cavill has been sharing a number of first-look photos of himself as Geralt and photos of his castmates in the highly anticipated Netflix series. However, it seems like a disheartening report may have hidden itself in the wave of these new The Witcher posts.

Entertainment Weekly just recently took to Instagram (via Reddit) to share some of the first-look images of the cast of The Witcher and the entertainment news outlet may have accidentally revealed Cavill's resignation from Warner Brothers' DC Extended Universe.

Posting about The Witcher photos, Entertainment Weekly called Cavill the DCEU's ex-superman star.

Here's what the publication wrote in its post:

"Netflix is finally revealing first look photos from their upcoming 'The Witcher' series. Ex-Superman Henry Cavill stars as Witcher Geralt in the fantasy series, alongside 'Sherwood's Anya Chalotra and newcomer Freya Allan..."

Entertainment Weekly may have edited the post to remove the part describing Cavill as the DCEU's ex-Superman, however, fans are wondering whether the publication knows something that most don't. Could Cavill be moving on from his role as the DCEU's Son of Krypton? Or could the publication's social media manager have simply made a mistake?

Fans who noticed the publication's post couldn't help but feel on edge – sure the DCEU might have had difficulty getting on the ground, but fans love the franchise's casting. Cavill's been a great superman and many are eager to see him return in another DCEU movie.

DC's next film, Birds of Prey is slated to hit theaters Feb. 7, 2020.
