The Witcher Star Henry Cavill Prepared for Geralt Role by Getting Dirty and Going on Reddit

It's no secret that actors have their own unique ways to prepare for a certain role. However, Henry Cavill has just revealed that his preparations for The Witcher were rather unusual. The Justice League actor admitted that he actually immersed himself on Reddit to learn more about Geralt of Rivia. In addition to that, Cavill made a point to get very dirty for the part.

Cavill recently spoke to Vanity Fair where he shared the strange way he got ready to play the character created by Andrzej Sapkowski.

"For me, it's vital to go about and read—I'm on all the Reddit forums. I'm reading all the reviews," Cavill said. "I'm literally trying to get everyone's information. Some of it is not useful, and other criticisms are incredibly useful. I take it all in, and I look forward to bringing it even closer and closer to Sapkowski's writing."

It does make sense to learn what fans truly think about Geralt, but how about the physical aspect of the role? In an effort to make all the dirt and grime on his character believable, Cavill literally got down and dirty.

"I'd go stand out in the rain. Sometimes I'd roll around in puddles," Cavill said. "I would just try and get as much of the world on me, so this character looked like he had lived within it."

We're pretty sure that the people in charge of make-up and costumes weren't very happy about this but it certainly made things more believable for viewers. Needless to say, it's a good thing Cavill went out of his way to truly become Geralt.

Cavill will return in The Witcher Season 2, which is expected to premiere on Netflix next year.
