The Witcher Showrunner Reveals Surprising Yennefer Deleted Scene

The Witcher may have been about Geralt of Rivia but the Netflix series also put the spotlight on several powerful female characters. Unfortunately, some of the scenes that could have established Yennefer and her companions as strong women ended up on the cutting room floor.

Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich recently spoke to Pure Fandom about the series and she confirmed that there were several deleted scenes that she wished were kept in the show. Interestingly, one of these scenes could have established a stronger bond between Yennefer and her fellow sorceresses.

"There were also so many scenes that had to be cut from the final episodes, too — such is the curse of television," Hissrich admitted. She then explained about one particular sequence that she wanted to keep in the series.

"We had a lovely scene in Episode 103 where Yennefer, Fringilla, and Sabrina all discussed how they felt about their transformations, and looking back, I wish we could have kept it. It was such a gorgeous example of female friendship, and it also would have served to ground Fringilla a bit more before she joined Nilfgaard," Hissrich said.

It's disappointing to know that there were scenes like these that could have shown up in The Witcher. On the other hand, it was also important to keep a certain pace in the show to keep the audience hooked. Perhaps there could be something similar that will show up in the second season.

The second season of The Witcher is currently in pre-production and Henry Cavill is already expected to begin filming this month. Season 2 is then set to premiere on Netflix in 2021.
