The Witcher Season 2 Will Have Four Directors From ‘Witcher Boot Camp’

After the success of its debut, fans are eagerly waiting for Netflix's The Witcher Season 2 to knock their socks off and give us more kickass fights against monsters. While the very first season was pretty flawed, we've been promised a more streamlined second season that will be easier to follow and feature more of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer. Interestingly enough, probably so the show can have more variety, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich revealed that the next season will have four directors.

Not one, not two, not three, but four directors. That's pretty crazy but Hissrich does have a fairly interesting method to this madness, which could draw some comparisons to the MCU if we're being honest.

In a recent episode of The Writer Experience Podcast, Hissrich revealed that they take all these directors to "Witcher Camp," which gives them a crash course on this series, and then she lets them do their directing thing. It's an interesting process, one we're surprised that Marvel Studios doesn't do (that we know off) and we're interested to see the quality of this method.

"So we have four directors. The directors come in, they come out. They come in and we basically do boot camp -- Witcher boot camp, which is 'let's catch you up on everything you need to know about the lore, and the stories we've been telling, and what a witcher is, and what these monsters are.' We pour information on them, and I work very closely with them in tone meetings and in production meetings to make sure that they understand the scripts, they understand our intents and purposes and everything we're trying to do."

Considering how fans ate up the first season of The Witcher, they'll probably love whatever the second season has planned for them. The first season wasn't exactly a masterclass in writing but it was a ton of fun and that should be enough to enjoy a movie.

Fans can currently stream The Witcher on Netflix, with season 2 coming out sometime next year.
