The Witcher Season 2 Finds New Eskel Following Thue Rassmussen Exit

The Witcher Season 2 may have encountered a major dilemma when Thue Rassmussen had to leave the series due to scheduling conflicts. However, that doesn't mean fans will not get to see Eskel in the show. The Netflix series has just found a new Eskel, who will play a major role in the second season.

According to Deadline, Basil Eidenbenz has been cast as Geralt of Rivia's friend and fellow witcher. Eidenbenz will take over the role that was vacated by Rassmussen who had to leave the show due to scheduling conflicts.

Eskel is an important character in the Witcher book series considering that he grew up with Geralt. As a fellow witcher, Eskel would go on to help train the young Ciri although he was initially uncertain about working with the girl. It's still unclear if this is what will happen in The Witcher Season 2 but there is little doubt that Eskel's fighting skills will be needed in the show.

Eidenbenz is known for his roles in Victoria, The Athena, and Denial. He also appeared in the Olivia Colman movie The Favourite.

The Witcher Season 2 will bring back Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey. New cast members include Eidenbenz, Kristofer Hivju, Yasen Atour, Agnes Bjorn, Paul Bullion, Aisha Fabienne Ross, Mecia Simson, and Kim Bodnia. The second season has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is already expected to premiere on Netflix by 2021.
