Of course, fans have been really curious as to why Cavill decided to leave the show, despite lobbying to become part of it in the first place. Since his announcement, several reports and speculation have circulated all over the internet regarding the real reason behind his exit.

According to a report from Deadline, Cavill's jaw-dropping departure from the hit Netflix series isn't exactly shrouded in drama contrary to popular belief. It turns out, Cavill only signed a short-term deal for the series and he felt like it was time to move forward.

Additionally, the outlet's source claims that demanding production schedules led to the actor's decision to abandon his Geralt role because The Witcher films in several different locations overseas. After the release of Enola Holmes 2, the actor isn't contractually obligated to the streaming giant and it looks like it will remain that way for the foreseeable future. With reports of Man of Steel 2 being in early development, it's only natural that it would be on top of Henry's priorities.

The Witcher Season 3 is expected to drop sometime in 2023. Meanwhile, Season 4 is already in development.
