HBO has renewed The White Lotus for a third season, though no one knows who will return to the new season. With the death of Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), who will be the next lead in The White Lotus Season 3?

TVLine held a casting poll to see who among the first and second seasons characters fans want to see in The White Lotus Season 3. Though Coolidge tops the vote, even if she isn’t part of the choices, will it be possible for her to return?

“There’s no reason these [seasons] have to be continuous. She has been coming to these [resorts] for years… so show her at a different time in her life,” one fan proposed. “Jennifer is a hoot and is much needed to balance some of the other stories. Make it a 2010 Tanya!”

Another one suggested that Tanya could return as a ghost, haunting Greg (Jon Gries) while communicating with Portia (Haley Lu Richardson) or Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) to tell them that her husband killed her.\

What will Happen in The White Lotus Season 3?

In the second season’s post-finale interview, the series creator Mike White hinted that the third season would be “a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.”

In an interview with Vanity Fair, he added more details about the third iteration’s theme.

“We are going to scout in Asia and look at countries there,” he said.

“My instinct is that maybe it has something to do with spirituality. Eastern versus Western religion or Western people in an Eastern culture,” he continued. “Maybe after sex it would be nice to have something that's a little more celestial or something that's a little more out of the carnal, I guess. But I don't know. I have to beg off to be honest because I don't really know.”
