The Walking Dead Director Shares Update on Season 10 Finale Amidst COVID-19 Delay

One of the most disappointing things about the Coronavirus outbreak has been the delay of The Walking Dead Season 10 finale. Although the 16th episode was set to premiere earlier in April, unfinished post-production work has forced AMC to push the finale back to later in 2020. Now, Greg Nicotero has offered an update on A Certain Doom amidst the COVID-19 quarantine.

Nicotero, who directed the Season 10 finale, recently spoke to Den of Geek, where he admitted that they were almost done with the episode when production had to be shut down.

"We were right on the cusp of just about finishing the episode when everybody had to stop work," Nicotero said. He then added that progress is now slow because of the limited amount of work the crew could put in.

"It's not like you can do a lot of that stuff remotely. I looked at all the visual effects stuff that was coming in when we were shooting because there was a lot of VFX for the finale, and everything looked magnificent. It's just a matter of waiting until we can basically mix all the ingredients," Nicotero said.

So when can we expect to see the Season 10 finale? Nicotero admitted he has no clue just yet since they will have to continue working once the quarantine is lifted.

"I don't know when that's going to be. But I think once people get a chance to go back to work, it's probably a week and a half or two weeks of fine-tuning," he said.

The penultimate episode of the current season finally introduced Princess and left several Alexandrians in trouble as a horde of walkers is coming for them in the hospital. Hopefully, we'll get to find out what happens next within the next few weeks.

The Walking Dead Season 10 finale has not yet been given an official premiere date. However, the episode is expected to air on AMC later this year.
