As of now, we only know of four incoming DCEU films, them being Shazam!, Joker, Birds of Prey, and Wonder Woman 1984. Ava DuVernay has signed up to direct a New Gods film, and though the movie still doesn't have a release date, we now have an idea on who the villains will be.
According to The GWW, Granny Goodness and the Female Furies will be the main antagonists of New Gods. In the comics, Goodness was a servant of Darkseid who trained the soldiers to be loyal to him. The Furies were also soldiers that worked under her.
It would make sense that Goodness would be the villain for this movie counting that the film has main protagonists Big Barda and Mister Miracle. Barda was a former member of the Furies, and Miracle was the adopted son of Darkseid.
That being said, I wonder if Darkseid will actually appear in this story. It was possible that he was going to make an appearance in Justice League, but after the whole fiasco with WB, it looks like they're scrapping the original plans for Justice League 2.
Either way, it looks like the DCEU is slowly getting back on its feet. Aquaman was a ridiculously huge success for the franchise, and everyone is looking forward to April's Shazam!. New Gods is still being written, but hopefully, we get a significant update before the year ends. Let's also not forget we have the likes of Matt Reeves' Batman and several other heroes to look forward to.
No release date has been set for New Gods.
